Director of Field Operations - Construction

Position Overview
We are in search of a Director of Field Operations to manage complex construction projects from start to finish. In this position, you will coordinate and oversee all construction activities and personnel between our Canton, MA office and various job sites across MA and CT. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in multi-family housing construction, including experience with ground-up projects, occupied renovations, and/or reuse and preservation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management Oversight:

  • Monitor project progress in relation to schedules and budgets across all active construction sites.
  • Identify potential challenges and proactively address them to prevent delays and cost overruns.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure the smooth execution of project plans.

Field Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of field superintendents, foremen, and other construction staff.
  • Assign tasks, delegate responsibilities, and provide essential training to field personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance-related issues.

Safety Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce strict safety protocols across all job sites.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and promptly address any identified hazards.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness among field staff.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and uphold quality standards.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the construction process.
  • Address quality concerns swiftly and effectively.

Resource Management:

  • Coordinate the allocation of equipment, materials, and labor to maximize project efficiency.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships to ensure timely execution of work packages.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain open lines of communication with project managers, clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular job site meetings to discuss project status and address any concerns.

Operational Improvement:

  • Analyze field operations data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement new processes and procedures to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience managing two or more construction sites simultaneously.
  • Background in multi-family ground-up construction, occupied renovations, and/or reuse/preservation projects.
  • Proficiency in construction project management software and tools.
