Transportation Department Manager
Seeking a growth-oriented engineer to serve as our Highway (Civil) Department Manager. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving the growth of the department, focusing on project execution and supporting other  Project Managers on a variety of transportation projects. This person will collaborate closely with clients and project teams, working throughout the project life cycle to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction.

Position Overview
The Transportation Department Manager will oversee the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects. This role ensures that all transportation systems are safe, efficient, and comply with state and federal regulations. The manager will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality transportation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the transportation engineering team in the design and execution of transportation projects.
  • Ensure compliance with NJDOT and NJTA regulations and standards in all transportation designs.
  • Oversee the development of project proposals, budgets, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to assess transportation needs and develop effective solutions.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and environmental assessments for proposed transportation projects.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to promote continuous professional development.

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of experience in Highway Design.
  • B.S. Degree min. in Civil Engineering (a master's may be substituted for 2 years of experience).
  • P.E. in N.J. (a NY State license is beneficial)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation skills, and problem-solving skills are also required.
  • This position is full-time.
